Healthy Diets…

REASONS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, DIET AND SLEEP:

Diet High Lights:  There are way to many diet plans/programs out there now that it is practically hard to know which one works and which one doesn’t.  With the increase in health issues triggered by over weight or obesity, the health industry has been flooded with all kinds of diet fads leaving willing dieters in such disarray and confusion that leads to anxiety and expensive losses.

Some of these diets are out right misguided ways to make the founders or writers of them a quick penny at the expense of the misinformed dieter.  This happens because we have now become so often desperate to lose weight or shed a few pounds in any way possible so that we are falling victims to these diet fads.  I have spent a pretty penny too buying diet after diet book trying to figure out which best fits my lifestyle, works faster, helps me shed more fat and all that but dieting is a lifestyle in itself.  there is no magic way but to Eat Right, Exercise and sleep.

There are Diets that promise to help change one’s lifestyle good examples are the Paleo Diet (Paleolithic Diet) which seems to concentrate on the consumption of mainly Plant based foods eg Vegetables, Legumes, nuts and seeds and fruits but they are not considered Vegan. The Keto Diet (Ketogenic Diet) is considered a Low Carbohydrate Diet and high Fats (Good Fats eg. Avocado Oil…)  It’s main proponent is the reduction of Carbs even in vegetables and fruits.  This Diet helps the body to reach the state of Ketosis – Is a metabolic state where the body has a higher concentration of ketones in the blood meaning the fats provide the fuel the body burns for energy.  Another Diet is the Vegan Diet that mainly encourages the consumption of vegetable no animal products (meats) and no Diary products (cheese, eggs) There is also the Mediterranean Keto Diet and so many other Diets that offer different benefits.  Best to do a good research and talk to your Doctor or qualified Dietitian especially if you have  compromised health!

While you consider which or what Diet to follow or exercise remember It’s true that Sleep plays a huge role in the functioning of the body.  I have worked the Overnight shift for over 20 years and the last 3 years have come at a price; increased weight, lack of sleep even on my Days Off and a sluggish metabolism that slowly but surely affects your memory! I realized I started eating later at night, drinking tea so I could not fall asleep at work then when I got home with all the other things to be done waiting for me it would be hard to take a nap even for a few hours until later in the day.  To be honest, this has taken a huge toll on me especially my health!

The past few years I have been having issues with Arthritis from an old hip injury that has become worse with the long standing hours, sitting for an extended period of time and just walking.  I attribute all this to the lack of Sleep and poor health.

So remember to put your health as a priority.  The Fact is Good Health = Wealth!
